Fix was to save to IDML*, close InDesign and then open the IDML file in InDesign. Once the IDML file was open, I re-saved as a current InDesign (2020) file. Export to PDF works without a hitch. (*Just in case anyone hasn't done it before, like me, it's [ File —> Save As —> File Type: InDesign CS4 or later (IDML) ]. Choose File > Export. Specify a name and location for the file. Select Use InDesign Document Name As The Output Filename, if you want the exported PDF to have the same name as the name of the document from the next export. For Save As Type (Windows) or Format (Mac OS), choose Adobe PDF (Print), and then click Save. 1. File>Export>Adobe PDF (Print) This opens the settings dialogue box for exporting to Adobe PDF. 2. Select 'Adobe PDF Preset: [PDF/X-1a:2001]'. This preset sets up most of the settings for you, all RGB colours are converted to CMYK (including images) and all transparency is flattened so commercial printers and RIPs won't have any issues Choose File > Export.In the Export dialog box, choose Adobe PDF (Interactive) for a document with interactive content like links and buttons meant for on-screen viewing, or Adobe PDF (Print) for a document you mean to print. For this tutorial, we chose Adobe PDF (Print).; In the Export Adobe PDF dialog box, you can set any number of options to tailor your PDF. Transparency issues with imported psd. And I printed it today and there is no weird outline, so problem solved for me. It's just the preview I guess. I'm troubleshooting a sign for print, made in Indesign by someone else. As happens sometimes, the file in Indesign and as an exported PDF appear correctly, but when printed have semi-transparent boxes around transparent objects. In this case, those are a placed .ai file and text with a drop shadow effect. Select File and then Export > choose PDF as your format, select a location > click Save Now in the Export PDF dialog box > disable the image downsampling Then open the effected PDF in Acrobat. And select Advanced > PDF Optimizer. Next set the downsampling options you want in the Image Settings panel. And disable other options that are not required Hi There, im used to have no troubles by having a black and white image, setting the layer blend mode to: Overlay. So the white parts are not visible. And usually if you write a PDF in Indesign it is also not visible, because you can set "reduce transparency". If i write a PDF in Publisher there Next you have some options under and "Export Adobe PDF" dialog box. Choose the high quality print, but VERY IMPORTANTLY, in the section "Options", make sure that "Optimize for Fast Web View" is NOT selected. Next, along the left is a menu. Choose "Output". In the "Color" section of this, you'll have three drop downs. When I export my newsletter from InDesign to PDF, the resulting PDF, including all transparent graphics, rasters and effects look great on screen. When I print the PDF to a plotter (Canon IPF8300), there are no issues and the printed results looks great. Crikey! I meant InDesign I'm using InDesign. Here's a screen cap of the InDesign appearance v. resultant PDF. The text layer is transparent through the white circle, but when exported it's just gone.
